The mural at Cedar Point Biological Station, a mixed media collage, was created with the help of summer research students Caitlyn Tritle and Lizzie Sarnes (Doane College). We based the design on the requests of resident researchers, hence the motifs of the damsel fly, parasites and turtles, as well as the yucca and its yucca moth. Included were contributions by staff, students and faculty residing at the Station, who made wonderful drawings or printouts of their favorite animals. The background is very fitting, as it consists of Nebraska maps printed in 1893, by now so brittle that they disintegrated when handled. The first wall was finished in the summer of 2015 with the intention of spreading the mural over the adjacent two walls in the summer of 2016.
